Anti-antibiotic Action

The Harvard Medical School set up a beautiful and terrifying demonstration of how antibiotic resistance evolves in bacteria. Many people have problems understanding just how huge a problem this is, or just how powerfully resistant bacteria can become.

The demonstration was time-lapsed over a two week period, and should speak for itself.

There is good news, in that as we stop using antibiotics they often regain potency over time (as less resistant bacteria become more prevalent in the populations at large). However, this is a much slower process.
